EInfo allows you to edit the creator and type codes of an HFS or MFS file.
REASON FOR BEING
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I always found myself needing a quick and dirty way to change the creator or type on a file. (To do little tricks like make this document read-only.) I had an old version of FEdit that apparently only worked on MFS files, and although I could use ResEdit, it added a resource fork to files that didn't have one.
So, I decided to write EInfo, which does only one thing: edit creator and type codes. It will not let you edit any other attributes, but it's beauty lies in its simplicity.
QUICK AND DIRTY
EInfo will run under Multifinder (and presumably System 7.0), but this is really a non-issue because the entire application consists of two modal dialogs. (How often do you need a quick and dirty utility running in the background anyway?)
SHOW ME THE WAY
When launched, EInfo presents you with the familiar Standard File dialog. Choose and file and press Open. A modal dialog appears with the selected file name across the top. Edit fields appear for the creator and type. Edit these fields and press Save to make the changes permanent. The Cancel button returns you to the Standard File dialog. The Quit button quits EInfo, as does the Cancel button in the Standard File dialog. That's it.
SHAREWARE
Really it's freeware, but if you find it useful and have a big heart, any contributions should be sent to:

Macman 1.0.2 ... a clone of PAC-MAN
I have been told there was a game called MacMan in the past.
This is not the same game, no infringement intended.
Try it, hands down my largest and best effort to date.

MeanScreen 1.0 ... a quick and dirty screen saver to which I owe others the credit for 99% of the code
It may be quick and dirty but it's never caused a crash.
BaseCalc 1.0 ... a quick and dirty mini-application to convert 32-bit
numbers between binary, decimal, and hex
(Apple says in the age of System 7.0, don't write any more
desk accessories, so it's a mini-app.)
